When you think European style and elegance the first name that comes to mind is Competitive Painters — or at least it should be. Our team was brought in for a full wallpapering and painting job to match the elegant home and furnishings.

In an area of Christchurch renowned for its class, our team added a little something 'extra', with the plant pot aesthetic wallpaper in the dryer.

Downstairs and leading up to the landing a plainer pastel-coloured wallpaper was used — although, with the right light, you can see the wall transform into an elegant patten of stylised two-tone ferns shaped into hearts.

In the lounge-come-kitchen area, a feature wall was made out of the chimney, using a natural grey stylised, which blends nicely into the sand dune used around the walls. This became the dominant theme throughout the rest of the interior, breaking only at the ceiling, where the flushings turn to white.

The European exterior uses a coral reef finish, similar to a warm grey, which nicely offsets the black shutters and open courtyard.

This project was an exercise in style, combining paint and wallpapering to create a home that is truely unique in its Merivale setting
